About
The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union (EU). It is responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and the Union's general interest in the areas of economic and monetary policy, competition policy, environmental policy, agriculture, fisheries, consumer policy, scientific research and innovation.
Mission
Our mission is to serve the general interest of the Union as a whole, acting as a political manager and as a legislative draftsman.
Structure
The Commission is composed of the President, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the 27 Members of the Commission.
Activities
The Commission's activities include:
- Promoting and protecting the European Union's interests in the world.
- Creating a competitive and dynamic internal market.
- Caring for Europe's natural environment.
